Basse's account of "actynges accordynge to those rules & Instrucshons recived from you at my departer from England," listed in in "the order in which you have placed them." The twelve articles describe Basse's actions in regard to Coxe's acquistion of 30 000 acres above the Falls of the Delaware, the estates of Edward Byllynge, John Fenwick, etc.: the article 5 describes Basse's inquiries conducted with "the greatest caushon," about the land belonging to "the Metropolitan Indians at Cohansey."

Jeremiah Basse, Governor of New Jersey (1697-1699), provincial secretary (1703-1715), and Attornery General (1718-1723). Basse immigrated to Cohansey, West Jersey by 1686. In 1692, he became resident agent for the West Jersey Society and an agent and attorney for Dr. Daniel Coxe (1640-1730), the chief proprietor and governor of West Jersey.
